Ifbyphone Receives Honorable Mention at ad:tech New York

November 5th, 2008 . by Elan

Ifbyphone just received an honorable mention in AdRANTs.com’s ad:tech Booth Schwag Award for 2008, for giving away cool Ifbyphone branded red light-up yo-yos.

As AdRants.com said,

In terms of booth schwag at New York’s ad:tech, there wasn’t much that stood out. There were pens and pens and pens and more pens. There were matchbooks. There were hats, cups and mints. There were stress balls, pins and badges. A few, however, rose above the toss-in-the-nearest-trash-can category. Ifbyphone had yo-yos. [ Full Story ]

Speaking of “cool” and “giveaways”, Ifbyphone was recently called the Coolest Thing Done With Open Source at the Web 2.0 show” by Information Week, and we’re giving away accounts with 100 free minutes per month for our iPhone apps.

Cool Open Source Telephony Technology at Web 2.0 Expo

October 6th, 2008 . by Elan

Serdar Yegulalp at InformationWeek recently wrote,

the award for Single Coolest Thing Done With Open Source at the Web 2.0 show has to go to Ifbyphone.

What is the “Coolest Thing” they are referring to? Well, as the article puts it:

Enter Ifbyphone, a “cloud telephone app platform.” Anyone who can build a forms-based Web app can now also build a telephony app. The whole system has been constructed along the lines of existing Web services, so it’s all a bunch of APIs that use HTTP and XML.

The cost for entry also is absurdly low. Any developer can use 100 minutes of phone time a month just to play around, or charge 8¢ a minute after that to their credit card. (If you buy a contract, you can get as low as 3½¢ a minute.) It’s also available instantly — no waiting for a port or switch to be provisioned.

ClueCon + Ad:Tech Chicago = Busy Week

August 13th, 2008 . by Khyle Keys

It was a busy week for all of us at IfByPhone last week, but no one was busier than our CEO, Irv Shapiro.  We had a booth at Ad:Tech Chicago last week and were able to meet hundreds of interesting people.  Additionally, Irv gave a speech focusing on how our applications and technology relate to marketing and advertising campaigns in today’s landscape.

The people who stopped by the booth were amazed that we can instantly provision toll free numbers and that we have no setup fees.  Our Call Tracking, Click-to-call and trackable numbers are all available on demand, and sales and marketing people can watch campaign results in real time.  People aren’t used to dealing with a company as responsive as we are.

On Wednesday, Irv and some other people from IfByPhone had breakfast with some very interesting people involved with the Voice 2.0 industry.  It was great to meet people in person that we’ve only conversed with online like Thomas McCarthy Howe, Shai Berger from Fonolo, James Body from truphone, as well as Andy Abramson from Comunicano.   Not only are we making noise with a series of new product announcements recently, but the other companies are shaking things up as well.

Also there was David Dalka, a very smart guy from Chicago.  He is particularly in tune with Social Media and how it interacts with actual businesses.  You can check out his summary of the breakfast on his post “Irv Shapiro’s phone mashup speech.”
