While Chicago is one of the most popular airport hubs for business travelers, the city also boasts two popular software companies that help business people avoid traveling.
Yesterday, the Chicago Tribune featured an article about how software from Ifbyphone and 37Signals is making it easier for employees to work from home, saving employees time commuting and businesses money on real estate.
According to IOMA’s August 2010 report, U.S. businesses could save more than $400 billion per year in increased productivity, lower office costs, reduced absenteeism, and less staff turnover by offering virtual work policies. This translates into as much as $10,000 per employee per year.
Using Ifbyphone’s Virtual Call Center software businesses can route inbound phone calls to employees using any phone –a cell phone, home phone, or office desk phone. Customers using the technology are able to forward calls to sales people in the field, franchisees in the caller’s city, or employees working from home.
37Signal’s software, also featured in the article, makes it easy for remote workforces to share documents, track conversations, share information, and chat in real-time.
